Only 2 N's lasted into the 70's. They were used to spread ballast after it was dumped in between the rails. One has to wonder how the ballast was put under the sleepers. Perhaps the N just roughly smoothed the ballast and then manual labour pushed the ballast under the sleepers. N 1 was scrapped in 1976, N 2 (underframe from U 231) is preserved by the "Daylesford Spa Country Railway"
